Lusine Kharatyan (Armenia)

Lusine Kharatyan (b. 1977)  is a Yerevan-based writer and cultural anthropologist. She has authored two novels, as well as numerous short stories and essays. Her writing is significantly influenced by her anthropological research, fieldwork, and travels. Her first collection of short stories Անմոռուկի փակուղի (Dead End Forget-Me-Not) was shortlisted for the 2021 European Union Prize for Literature (EUPL), and her second novel, Սիրիավեպ (A Syrian Affair) was a finalist for the same prize in 2023.  In 2025, Kharatyan was awarded the Saroyan Prize for Short Story of Yerevan International Book Fest. Lusine’s short fiction and essays have been translated into multiple languages, including English, Georgian, German, Greek, Maltese, Polish and Russian. She is a member of PEN Armenia and the Chair of its Women Writer’s Committee since 2021.
