Dimitris Lyacos
Poet and playwright. Dimitris Lyacos was born in Athens in 1966. He is widely regarded as one of the most distinctive, innovative, and avant-garde figures in contemporary Greek literature. Lyacos studied law at the University of Athens and later pursued philosophy at University College London (UCL). He spent many years living and working across Europe, notably in the United Kingdom, Germany, and Italy.
Lyacos’s defining literary achievement is his acclaimed trilogy, “Poena Damni” (The Punishment of the Damned), a monumental project that spans nearly thirty years of work. The trilogy comprises three distinct sections:
